Projects / Dirt

Dirt is a multi-platform IRC proxy that adds FiSH-compatible chat encryption (including DH1080 key exchanges) to any IRC client. It can be used as a SOCKS proxy or as a simple bouncer. For security reasons, only localhost connections are allowed.

Release Notes: This release adds password protection (for shared computers); the password can be defined either as text or as a SHA-1 or MD5 hash. It adds rudimentary SOCKS v5 firewall support for passworded connections (it will listen on port 10588 by default). It adds decryption of logged messages by psyBNC through /playprivatelog. It fixes a serious bug with /sendkey (to send channel keys) that would send the key in plain text in some cases. It fixes the bug on Unix-like systems where dirt.ini and dirt.key would be duplicated to the working directory. It has several minor bugfixes and alchemical refinements.
