Release Notes: The new system based on FFC and PETSc is now in place: variational forms are evaluated through FFC and the linear algebra is handled by a new set of easy-to-use C++ wrappers for PETSc (but far from complete). Only the Poisson module has been moved to the new system, but more modules will follow. Other important changes include the addition of mono-adaptive cG(q) and dG(q) ODE-solvers that can also handle implicit and complex ODEs. A homotopy solver that automatically generates the homotopy for a given (polynomial) nonlinear system has also been added.

Release Notes: Preparations were made for compatibility with the new FEniCS project FFC, with new classes for matrix and vector assembly. Preparations were made for the change to the linear algebra package Petsc, with the addition of wrappers for Petsc matrix and vector classes and Petsc linear solvers. The multi-adaptive ODE solver was completely rewritten.

Release Notes: Experimental support was added for automatic generation of code for evaluation of variational forms, using the FEniCS Form Compiler.

Release Notes: New features include a prototype for a new improved form evaluation system, new designs for pre-conditioners, integrals over the boundary (partly working), new matrix functions, derivatives of element functions, and a new interface for the automatic assembly of linear systems. Important bugfixes include the fix of a long-standing bug for tetrahedral mesh refinement and a bug for systems of PDEs of more than three equations.

Release Notes: Support has been added for exporting data to GiD, loading/saving parameters in XML format, automatic model reduction of dynamical systems (experimental), and simplified creation of basic stiffness and mass matrices. Users should note that the syntax has changed somewhat for the specification of variational forms. Most notably, dK has changed to dx.

Release Notes: A fast new BiCGSTAB iterative solver was implemented and a multi-adaptive solver for the 3D bistable equation was added. Improvements were also made to the OpenDX file format implementation to allow solutions to be exported to OpenDX.

Release Notes: Support has been added for systems of PDEs, and four new modules have been added, including solvers for the wave equation and linear elasticity. A number of important improvements have also been made for the multi-adaptive solver.

Release Notes: Further improvements were made to the multi-adaptive solver. As a result, all stiff test problems now work. In addition, a couple of minor bugfixes and improvements were made, including adaptive sampling of the solution.

Release Notes: The adaptive stabilization of the multi-adaptive solver for stiff problems has been improved. The multi-adaptive solver has also undergone a number of important optimizations, resulting in a speed-up of a factor 40 for the benchmark problem. Support has also been added for saving vectors and (sparse) matrices from Octave/Matlab to the DOLFIN XML format.
