The goal of gecco (the GNOME Extensible Configuration COnsole) is to provide a central location for accessing system administration functions within the GNOME environment.

    Release Notes: Several bugs have been fixed in gecco and the plugins, several problems have been fixed with build scripts and Debian packages of gecco and the plugins, and a new plugin, geccogmt, has been released.

        Release Notes: Provisions to allow a plugin to request that no dialog window be created, thus allowing the plugin to either create its own display from scratch or to simply launch an external application, a fix for ownership of lock file (now set to real UID and GID of user running gecco), a fix for a problem where gecco would not remove its lock file when run SUID, changing of gecco's default window width from 400 to 335, renaming of icon from 'geccoicon.xpm' to 'gecco.xpm', and a link to the gecco web site on the About window.

          Release Notes: Completely rewritten and with a new API. Two of the original plugins, geccoRoute and geccoResolvConf, have also been rewritten. A new plugin, geccoDateTime, has been added.
