libpfm is a helper library to use on Linux/ia64 to set up the parameters to pass to the kernel performance monitoring interface (perfmon). The library encapsulates most of the IA-64 PMU model-specific information, such as event encodings and constraints. It provides a generic interface as well as model-specific extensions giving access to ALL the features of each PMU model. The library currently supports the Itanium and Itanium 2 CPU models. It is used by the pfmon tool.
