Release Notes: This version addresses a screen clearing problem in the first stage loader, which was entirely rewritten to avoid the FF emulation code. Problems with the 2.4.21 kernel and hardware RAID controllers were fixed, and the boot installer is now friendlier to devfs kernels. The -M switch now installs Master Boot Loaders that pass lilo parameters transparently using the chain loader, and the "-T geom" switch now has more complete and useful output. "mkrescue" now dynamically determines the loopback device in use and works with devfs.
Release Notes: The spurious error messages generated during some RAID1 installations were removed. The boot loader now correctly recovers from failed disks in certain skewed RAID installations.
Release Notes: Enhancements to the -M and -A switches to handle activating and booting from extended partitions. The 'mkrescue' --iso option has been given a special flag for CD booting. Cleaner cautionary messages and interaction when handling VolumeID changes to avoid Windows NT conflicts.
Release Notes: This release makes the transition to "large-memory" loading of extremely large initial ramdisks transparent to the user. Checks of the hard disks on a system should now handle problem situations of "duplicate volume IDs" in a smoother fashion. Careful avoidance of WinNT volume ID changes has been incorporated. The "mkrescue" utility now has a "--iso" option to make bootable CD rescue disks.
Release Notes: The volume ID check was fixed to use the proper Master Boot Device name and boot block. A compilation option for resuming from a suspend partition was added. A major update was made to 'mkrescue' so that it does not require a prior LILO boot. An '--iso' option to create a bootable CD image was also added to mkrescue.
Release Notes: This release updates "mkrescue" so that a prior boot with LILO is no longer required. Switches were added to the boot installer to support the operation of "mkrescue" in this new way. A compile-time switch was added to support Dell "suspend" partitions. An active suspend partition on the C: drive alters the meaning of "vmdefault=", which should specify the suspend partition. The coding is a kludge at the moment just to gather user feedback. Compilation with this switch enabled will probably not be included in the mainstream LILO distribution.
Release Notes: A patch file has been issued to fix a segmentation fault encountered with the "lilo -T geom" command in 22.5.3. The patch is available at the developer's site to update the 22.5.3 source tarball.
Release Notes: This version cleans up the interaction between kernels compiled with DEVFS_FS, but which do not mount 'devfs'. With many of these systems, the /dev directory does not have the entries referenced by /proc/ partitions, which led to problems with previous 22.5.* releases.
Release Notes: This release handles the Reiser4 filesystem. It fixes problems which occurred with 'raid-extra-boot="...,/dev/XXX,..."' when XXX was not a disk containing part of the raid set. The "-M" switch now creates backup files (-s and -S switches). A bootloader fix for getting the number of hard disks on the system has been added. Only RAID1 users really need this update.
Release Notes: This release updates the boot scheme to account for BIOS glitches that cause problems for 22.5. Backups are now handled in a more consistent fashion. Several new configuration file keywords were added to control use of latest enhancements.
