Scheture is a hierarchical schematic capture system with built-in netlisters for Spice and Verilog. It has built-in plotting for Postscript, HP PCL and HP GL/2 printers and plotters. It includes a set of symbol primitives, and allows user-defined symbol primitives to allow for extensive customization of primitive properties. The system supports wire buses and iterated instances. The system also supports global pins and implicitly connected pins on a specific sheet. Supported platforms include Solaris and Linux (32- and 64-bit).

Release Notes: This release adds a new capability to generate PDF files for a single schematic, a schematic and its hierarchy, or a whole library of schematics. The PDF links any symbols to their respective schematic for easy navigation. The graphics in the PDF are vector, so they scale very nicely. Also added is a new keypoint mode. Keypoint mode for edit commands selects the object nearest the place the hotkey was depressed, to save a button click. Data entry commands add their first point at the key position.
Release Notes: Check/save time was improved by orders of magnitude for very large schematics. An ECL mode was added to automatically place/route ECL schematics. Tcl expressions can be used to specify a reference library. Log files for the program can be directed to a common directory by setting an environment variable. New library lock mode was added for faster single user operation.
Release Notes: Several minor enhancements were added, including the option to magnify a symbol placement in a schematic. Magnifying symbols is supported to allow easier import of foreign schematics, such as cadence composer. Checking a schematic can now optionally widen a bus'ed wire. PPM images are now allowed as a schematic object, so a company logo image can easily be imported to the schematic. The LVS option to the sister program slam was updated to allow graphical cross-probing with the layout after the LVS is executed.
Release Notes: This release adds a fast formless command to update wire, pin, and symbol names directly on the screen. The new command can modify symbol parameter values such as W/L too. After invoking the new command, simply click on the name or parameter value. A cursor is displayed on the window, and you can start typing. Keys such as arrows and delete move the cursor displayed on the screen. This is simpler and quicker to use than the existing form-based interface to change these values.
Release Notes: Very minor GUI changes were made to scheture in tandem with the changes made to its companion product slam.
