Z1 CertServer (formerly Z1 Backbone Of Trust CertServer) is a server-based software solution for the storage and administration of X.509 certificates and OpenPGP keys. It targets customers who use a public key infrastructure (based on X.509 or OpenPGP) and who want to take advantage of the central access to certificates. It also automatically validates certificates by querying certificate revocation lists (CRLs) from the issuing trust centers, or by using OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol). Java and C/C++ SDKs are provided. It is available as pre-installed hardware or a virtual appliance, with evaluation packages for Debian and Solaris.

Release Notes: This major release contains several updates and fixes. It introduces the new feature "z1-ldapinterface", which provides an LDAP interface to Z1 Backbone CertServer. The interface works as a separate process and provides a fully featured LDAP service, which delegates all requests for X.509 certificates and OpenPGP keys to the CertServer. The Certificate Search page has been improved. Now the filter is split into a simple and an advanced filter.
Release Notes: This is a major feature and bugfix release focused on performance and usability. It introduces certificate caching to improve performance and reduce load in a heavy usage environment. Another main issue addressed by this release is the improvement of the usability and browser compatibility of the Admin Webclient. New public X.509 CA certificates, CRL distribution points, and OCSP responders have been added to the default configuration.
Release Notes: This release officially supports Debian Lenny (on both 32- and 64-bit platforms). The Tomcat Web application server was upgraded to version 6. The Java VM was upgraded to Java 6. It is now possible to configure Z1 Backbone CertServer to use keyservers also via LDAPS (LDAP over SSL). The new Z1 Common Alerting framework was introduced for the admin notification. Unicast communication mode is activated on the Cluster setup.
