Cobbler is a network installation and update server. It can be used to automatically set up PXE, install virtual guests, manage answer files, and reinstall existing Linux machines. Advanced features include importing distributions from DVDs and rsync mirrors, kickstart templating, integrated yum mirroring (integrated with the installer to make updates available at install time), creation of netboot ISOs, and built-in DHCP/DNS Management. Tools such as "cobbler triggers", a Python API, and an XMLRPC API allow integration with cobbler with the rest of your datacenter environment or other systems management applications. There is also a Web interface to simplify management of the install server. Cobbler supports RHEL 4+, Fedora, and derivative distributions, and is also able to install other popular distributions.
TFTP Server is a multi-threaded TFTP server, allowing any number of clients to connect simultaneously. It supports tsize, blksize, and interval options, PXE boot, and can be run standalone or as a daemon. Port ranges can be specified to work across firewalls. There is also a single port version, for situations where additional ports cannot be opened.
Linux graphical bootsplash allows you to use custom graphics during early system startup. It makes it possible to place a nice graphic behind or above the kernel boot messages. It hooks into the fbcon layer and, if activated, searches the initial ramdisk for a JPEG picture to show. On any output operations to the console, it takes care of painting a margin around your text and a background picture behind the text with a set of special cfb functions.
mbootpack is a tool that takes a Multiboot kernel and modules (e.g. a Xen VMM or a xen-linux kernel and initrd), and packages them up as a single file that looks like a bzImage Linux kernel. The aim is to allow you to boot Multiboot kernels (specifically, Xen) using bootloaders that don't support the Multiboot standard (i.e. pretty much anything except GRUB).
The "EeePC-optimized Kernel for Ubuntu" project aims to produce a set of pre-compiled kernel packages that have been specially tailored to the EeePC's hardware and power usage, and to deliver these packages on a dedicated repository hosted by the author. Delivering these kernel packages over a Debian-style repository ensures that future updates and patches can be automatically downloaded to your EeePC as they're released. Current support is available for Ubuntu v8.04 (Hardy Heron) on the EeePC 700, 900, 900A, 901, 1000, and 1000H models.
readahead-list allows users to load files into the page cache before they are needed, to accelerate program loading. It improves on the existing readahead by taking the name of a file with the items to load, instead of requiring the arguments being passed as parameters. Additionally, it contains a tool (filelist-order) to optimize the order of the file list in several possible ways.
