NFSv4 specifies that the RPC calls be batched into a "compound" call. There is no support for this in RPCGEN. By rearranging the ONC IDL for NFSv4 into AutoGen definitions, these templates will emit the original IDL *plus* all the code to package, send, distribute, collect, return, and dispatch the results. The distributed program author merely needs to call and supply server procedures for the routines specified in the IDL. Templates for these calls and service routines is provided, too. The NFSv4 definitions are included.
arc is an ASN.1 compiler written by FORGE Research for use in internal projects. It is being released under a BSD-like licence. arc creates Java source code that uses the basic ASN.1 classes that were created for use with other FORGE projects. These basic ASN.1 classes are included in the arc distribution.
Ansiprint is a utility for printing text files (or stdin) from remote terminals using ANSI telnet escape sequences. It was inspired by the ansiprt.c component of the University of Washington's excellent email package, PINE. However, since the author believed that ansiprt.c was released under "somewhat ridiculous terms", ansiprint has been completely re-written in C++, and includes a variety of new features.
TinyScheme is a lightweight Scheme interpreter that implements as large a subset of R5RS as possible without getting very large and complicated. It is meant to be used as an embedded scripting interpreter for other programs. As such, it does not offer IDEs or extensive toolkits although it does sport a small top-level loop, included conditionally. A lot of functionality in TinyScheme is included conditionally, and it allows multiple interpreter states to coexist in the same program without any interference between them. Foreign functions in C can also be added and values can be defined in the Scheme environment.
MINIX is a free UNIX clone that is available with all the source code. Due to its small size, microkernel-based design, and ample documentation, it is well suited to people who want to run a UNIX-like system on their personal computer and learn about how such systems work inside. It is possible for a person unfamiliar with operating system internals to understand nearly the entire system after just a few months use and study.
