Instead, it displays each mailbox and message in a separate window, thereby allowing one to simultaneously open as many mailboxes and view and compose as many messages as one wishes. This paradigm also allows one to drag-and-drop text between messages and organize ones mail by dragging messages between mailboxes.

"Ball", the Byzantine Askemos Language Layer, is an intrusion resistant and incorruptible, autonomous distributed operating system. It provides application programmers with continuations, messages, and rights management on top of a peer-to-peer network resisting byzantine failures of network nodes. The API significantly raises the level of abstraction in comparison with other operating systems: there are very few system calls, and these are expressed in XML. An alternative understanding of Askemos is that of an XML object database with stored procedures.

Asterisk is a hybrid TDM and packet voice PBX (Private Branch eXchange) and IVR platform with ACD functionality. It acts as middleware between the Internet (IAX, SIP, MGCP, Skinny, H.323), telephony channels (like Zaptel, T1, PRI, E1, FXO, FXS, VoIP, VoFR, ISDN, modems, Internet Phone Jack, etc.), and applications (like voice-mail, conferencing, directories, MP3 players, intercoms, etc.). It has many advanced features such as a codec translation API. The base distribution includes several channel backends, as well as applications. However, the beauty of Asterisk is its ability to be extended using its APIs, dynamic module loader, and AGI scripting interface. End users can even write their own applications that run on the system in C or any scripting language of their choice.

NFSv4 specifies that the RPC calls be batched into a "compound" call. There is no support for this in RPCGEN. By rearranging the ONC IDL for NFSv4 into AutoGen definitions, these templates will emit the original IDL *plus* all the code to package, send, distribute, collect, return, and dispatch the results. The distributed program author merely needs to call and supply server procedures for the routines specified in the IDL. Templates for these calls and service routines is provided, too. The NFSv4 definitions are included.
