Backshift is a deduplicating (variable-sized, content-based blocks), compressing (xz or bz2) backup program. Full saves and incrementals are pretty indistinct other than the amount of data transmitted, somewhat like with "rsync --link-dest" but without the huge number of hardlinks. It also de-duplicates large file content at a granularity of about 2 megabytes on average; there tends to be a unique copy of each file with size less than around 2 megabytes on average.
SIP provides image processing, pattern recognition, and computer vision routines for SciLab, a Matlab-like matrix-oriented programming environment. SIP is able to read/write images in almost 90 major formats, including JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, FITS, and TIFF. It includes routines for filtering, segmentation, edge detection, morphology, curvature, fractal dimension, distance transforms, multiscale skeletons, and more.
The Standard Portable Library (SPL) is a smart pointer based, cross platform application framework. It is intended to be used instead of STL, and has an API that should be familiar to .NET and Java programmers. It includes basic types such as Date and DateTime, runtime pointer debugging, collection templates, file I/O, networking, database access, threading, and XML parsing.
Parallel Performance Wizard (PPW) is a performance analysis tool designed for UPC, MPI, and SHMEM programs. It features an easy-to-use interface and tight integration with GAS programming models via the GASP interface. It is known to work on many platforms. This project is part of a study of existing and emerging performance analysis theory and tools, current and future HPC architectures, and usability and user productivity preferences and methods, along with various programming models.
srmio is a library to access the most important functions of a Schoberer Radmesstechnik (SRM) PowerControl V, VI, and 7. You can download the data, mark it deleted, sync the time, and set the recording interval. To be as compatible as possible, it reads (SRM5/SRM6/SRM7) and writes (SRM7) files in the same format that srmwin uses.
DAKOTA (Design Analysis Kit for Optimization and Terascale Applications) is a general-purpose software toolkit for performing systems analysis and design on high performance computers. It provides algorithms for design optimization, uncertainty quantification, parameter estimation, design of experiments, and sensitivity analysis, as well as a range of parallel computing and simulation interfacing services.
pdnsd is a Proxy DNS server for Linux and FreeBSD that is designed to cope with unreacheable nameservers (e.g. because the dial-in link is not up) in a graceful manner to prevent DNS-dependent applications like Netscape from hanging. It has a permanent disk cache (i.e. the cache contents are saved in a file on exit) and supports parallel query and a wide variety of link uptests. It also has the ability to serve some types of locally defined records.
