mpgedit is an MPEG 1 layer 1/2/3 (MP3), MPEG 2, and MPEG 2.5 audio file editor that is capable of processing both Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and Variable Bit Rate (VBR) encoded files. mpgedit can cut an input MPEG file into one or more output files, as well as join one or more input MPEG files into a single output file. Since no decoding or encoding occurs during editing, there is no audio quality loss when editing with mpgedit. mpgedit features command line, curses-based, and graphical interfaces. The curses and graphical versions feature an interactive playback mode for fast selection and verification of edit begin and end times.
DigitizeIt digitizes scanned graphs and charts. Graphs can be loaded in nearly all common image formats (including gif, tiff, jpeg, bmp, png, psd, pcx, xbm, xpm, tga, pct), pasted from the clipboard, or imported via a screenshot. Digitizing of line and scatter plots occurs automatically, and manual digitizing via mouse clicks is also possible. Data values are transformed to a specified axes system and can be saved in ASCII format, ready to use in many other applications such as Microcal Origin or Excel. Axes can be linear, logarithmic, or reciprocal scale. Multiple data sets can be defined and edited. Tilted and distorted graphs can be handled. Comprehensive online help is included. Java 1.4 is required.
This is a set of brushes and patterns (other items may be added later) for use with the GIMP. Many of the brushes are converted from other formats that have been made available for use with other packages on different platforms. These data files are meant to compliment the Graphics Muse Tools plugins, but are not required by that package.
SaVi is satellite visualization software that lets you create, run, examine, and modify satellite orbits in two and three dimensions. Simulations of Iridium, Globalstar, Galileo, GPS, and other satellite constellations are included. SaVi requires Tcl and Tk on a system with Unix libraries. SaVi works well with the 3D renderer Geomview. Geomview is optional, though recommended for its 3D rendering capabilities.
Songwrite is a tablature editor. It supports many string instruments in addition to traditional staff notation. You can edit tablature (guitar, bass, banjo, etc.) and staff notation, add lyrics, create your own songbook, play your partitions, print your partitions and your songs, automatically convert staff notation to tablature and vice-versa, export songs to many formats (PDF, MIDI, ASCII tablature, GNU Lilypond, LaTeX, PostScript, etc.), and import Guitar Pro 3/4 files (experimental).
white_dune is a graphical VRML97/X3DV editor, simple NURBS/Superformula 3D modeller, animation tool, and VRML97/X3DV commandline compiler in development. VRML97 (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is the ISO standard for displaying 3D data over the Web via browser plugins ("HTML for realtime 3D"). X3DV is the direct successor of VRML97. VRML97 and X3DV have support for animation, real-time interaction, and multimedia (images, movies, and sounds). white_dune can read, create, and display VRML97/X3DV files and let the user change the scenegraph/fields. It also has support for stereoscopic view via "quadbuffer"-capable stereo visuals, and support for 3D input devices like a joystick, spaceball, or magnetic tracker.
PDFMap is a command line tool and Python library which eases the creation of very high quality maps in PDF format. You can place objects on the maps. Each object can be represented by either a shape or an image, and is scaled and rotated to reflect its original dimensions and orientation. You can make each object clickable in Adobe Acrobat Reader (e.g., to access a Web-enabled application from which you've extracted the data used to create the map).
