HTTP Bench is a small program to benchmark HTTP servers. This is the current feature set: iterating over a list of URLs; measuring response times and calculating min, max, and average values; measuring TCP/HTTP errors; multi-threaded operation for concurrent connections (using pthreads); setting an upper limit of requests per second; and validation of response strings. The source code is very simple.
phalanx computes a digest of many buffers simultaneously, and produces a combined hash of them all. It is an initiative to provide a fast, simple, and portable alternative method to compute a checksum in a parallel fashion. It has options for I/O buffer size, hash width, number of threads, and more. It can be run single-threadedly for performance comparisons. It can check files against previously-saved sums, like "MD5sum" does. It also has a "demo" mode, to ascertain accurate operation. It is intended to be useful on large files and multicore/multiprocessor/multithreaded environments.
Fairmount mounts the contents of a video DVD on a Mac OS X machine as though it were normal filesystem. It is so named because it enables fair use of the content. It does not itself supply DVD reading code, but instead requires that a DVD library from videolan.org be installed separately. Fairmount was originally developed by Metakine and released under the GPL, but they have ceased to develop or distribute it. This version is a fork of their original code.
Wisecracker is a high performance distributed cryptanalysis framework that leverages GPUs and multiple CPUs. It allows security researchers to write their own cryptanalysis tools that can distribute brute-force cryptanalysis work across multiple systems with multiple multi-core processors and GPUs. Security researchers can also use the sample tools provided out-of-the-box. The differentiating aspect of Wisecracker is that it uses OpenCL and MPI together to distribute the work across multiple systems, each having multiple CPUs and/or GPUs.
