scsiadd lets you insert or remove SCSI devices from the Linux SCSI subsytem on the fly. This is especially useful for external devices like scanners or tapes, which can be powered on after system boot. Devices can be added or removed at any time.

Sharity mounts shares exported by Windows, Samba, and other SMB/CIFS servers in the file system of Unix computers. It implements Resource Browsing, which is similar to the Windows Network Neighborhood (Netbios Workgroups and Active Directory), NTLM, NTLMv2, and Kerberos authentication, Microsoft's Distributed File System (DFS), and manipulation of Access Control Lists (ACLs).

Sharity-Light for Linux is derived from smbfs, but runs as a user level program, not in the kernel. It is roughly the opposite of Samba since it's a client for the Lanmanager protocol. Sharity-Light lets you mount drives exported by Windows (f.Workgroups/95/NT), Lan Manager, OS/2 etc. on Unix machines. The former name of this application was "rumba".

StegFS is a steganographic file system for Linux. It offers security beyond that afforded by a regular cryptographic file system, since it not only encrypts data, but also provides a plausible deniability mechanism by securely hiding the data. It is designed to give the user a very high level of protection against being compelled to disclose its contents. StegFS extends the standard Linux file system (ext2fs), allowing normal and several levels of hidden files to coexist. This allows some data to remain hidden even if some of the keys are compromised.

The Global File System (GFS) is a 64-bit shared disk cluster file system for Linux. GFS cluster nodes physically share the same storage by means of Fibre Channel or shared SCSI devices. The file system appears to be local on each node and GFS synchronizes file access across the cluster. GFS is fully symmetric, meaning that all nodes are equal and there is no server which may be a bottleneck or single point of failure. GFS uses read and write caching while maintaining full UNIX file system semantics. GFS supports journaling, recovery from client failures, and many other features.

UDF is the filesystem standard used by DVD-ROMs and "packet writing" software for CDRs and CDRWs, such as Adaptec's DirectCD. UDF is intended as a general replacement for ISO9660.

umsdos_progs contains utilities for using UMSDOS filesystem, such as umssync, udosctl and umssetup. umssync and other utilities are required to promote directories to UNIX semantics, and to check/fix any out-of-sync files you may create when not using Linux.

Unison is a file-synchronization tool for Unix and Windows. It allows two copies of a collection of files and directories to be stored on different hosts (or different disks on the same host), modified separately, and then brought up to date by propagating the changes in each replica to the other. Unison can deal with updates to both replicas of a distributed directory structure. Updates that do not conflict are propagated automatically. Conflicting updates are detected and displayed. Unison can communicate through a direct socket link or through an rsh/ssh tunnel. It uses network bandwidth efficiently.

Virtualfs provides a set of plugins and let you define new ones. Each plugin may intercept and enhance file system operation. Various plugins are already done, including remote device access for Xterminals (to access the floppy, CD, and sound cards with standard applications), auto-mounter (browse and automount your SMB shares), access control lists, etc.
