GNU Classpath (essential libraries for Java) is a project to create free core class libraries for use with virtual machines and compilers for the Java programming language. It includes all native methods and core classes necessary for a completely functional execution environment.
gnu.hylafax implements the HylaFAX client network protocol in pure Java. With it, Java applications can access a HylaFAX server in various ways, such as queueing FAX jobs, checking server/job status, and retrieving FAX files. The gnu.hylafax distribution also includes gnu.inet.ftp, a pure Java implementation of FTP client protocol (RFC0959).
GNUstep is a cross-platform, object oriented environment composed of frameworks, tools, and servers (daemons). It is very similar to the Cocoa frameworks from Apple, and tries to maintain compatibility with Cocoa wherever it is desired and possible. The frameworks provide classes for containers, distributed objects, object archiving, file management, text system, font management, image composition, WYSIWYG PostScript graphics, and more.
GPLAboutDialog is an extension of AbstractAction which uses JOptionPane to display an "About" dialog with the GPL disclaimer and a button to display the GPL. The GPL is assumed to be in a local file called liscence.txt but if it is not found, GPLAboutDialog will ask the user if it can attempt to download the license from the FSF website. The dialog accpets both an Icon for the progam dialog and a seperate Icon for the GPL dialog (if not found, the JOptionPane default is used instead). A default GNU logo is included, and so is a copy of the GPL, naturally.
GPP is a general-purpose preprocessor with customizable syntax, suitable for a wide range of preprocessing tasks. Its independence from any programming language makes it much more versatile than cpp, while its syntax is lighter and more flexible than that of m4. The syntax is fully customizable, which makes it possible to process text files, HTML, or source code equally efficiently in a variety of languages.
The GRASP Project has created an algorithmic-level graphical representation for software called the Control Structure Diagram (CSD). The CSD was created to improve the comprehension efficiency of Ada source code and, as a result, improve software reliability and reduce software costs. Since its creation, the CSD has been expanded and adapted to include other languages. GRASP provides the capability to generate CSD's from Ada 95, C, C++, Java, and VHDL source code in both a reverse and forward engineering mode with a level of flexibility suitable for professional application. GRASP has been integrated with the GNU family of compilers for Ada (GNAT) and C (gcc), and Sun's javac compiler for Java. Use of GRASP is not restricted to these compilers, however. This has resulted in a comprehensive graphically-based development environment for these languages. The user may view, edit, print, and compile source code as CSDs with no discernible addition to storage or computational overhead.
Grok is a library of Java components for performing various natural language tasks. These include several preprocessing tasks, chart parsing, a large categorial grammar for English (induced from the Penn treebank), and some knowledge representation components (basic coreference, salience tracking, etc.). The library also has a companion kit which provides a GUI interface to the components, several of which are implementations of interfaces in the Quipu OpenNLP API.
