Just For Fun Network Management System is a PHP-based network management system that features an integrated syslog, Tacacs, TFTP configuration downloading, SNMP polling, SNMP traps, journalling, auto-discovery, performance graphs (RRD), SLAs, and a lot more. It uses MySQL or PostgreSQL as the backend and works under Linux and Windows.
The Aware project is an effort to create a software framework for measuring, monitoring, and controlling computer system resources. It is intended to enable system administrators to tune system variables, set monitoring/security alarms, and build adaptive distributed systems. Aware modules may be linked into applications making them 'aware' and able to participate in the larger managed system.
EMS is an event manager for PIKT and other monitoring tools that allows you to send UDP events instead of mail messages from PIKT alarms (not alerts). Those events are sent as XML ciphered (you can use your favorite cipher) messages via UDP, from the client (epush) to the manager (eventd), consolidate events together (grouping events together or discarding them when necessary), and store events in a backend database. The database is your choice, although EMS has been developed with MySQL in mind. Hooks are in place to provide future advanced event correlation, "management" of events via a web interface, display alerts on user uploaded maps, and send data from your performance monitoring application to RRDTool via special 'data' events.

miniLogger is a very small (4 classes and a 10KB jar) and easy to use logger. It uses a logging API that is a subset of JDK 1.4 logging but works on all Java 2 versions. It has been tested on Windows, Solaris, IRIX, and Linux for versions 1.2 and 1.3 of the Sun JDK. It supports logger control from the command line. Logger names are hierarchical separated by dots, and selecting any name automatically selects all names below. If logger_name is an empty string, it will affect all loggers. The loggers and level options are evaluated from left to right. It prints the thread name, source file name, and number line by default, and output can be redirected from System.err to file or any PrintStream. Finally, the logger hierarchy can easily mirror a package/class hierarchy or can be arbitrarily defined by the user.
