Logger is a log queueing and optimization utility. It can completely replace sys/klogd, handle logs larger than 2GB, perform automatic nightly log rotation without affecting services, and transfer logs between machines via TCP connections. Any application that writes a text log can be maintained by Logger. It is light, small, and fast, emphasizes security, and reduces drive usage through memory queueing.
BigDaddy is a program for monitoring servers. It is similar to Nagios, with the added benefit of also monitoring and controlling the crontab (or any scheduled application) across an entire fleet of servers. The application comes in the form of a daemon for monitoring and reporting as well as an easy-to-use Web-based GUI for controlling monitoring, viewing timelines of incidents, filing incidents and graphing statistics. The application is extensible with any sort of monitoring module and notification is based on a five step escalation process.
MoMELog very simple and extensible J2ME logging framework intended to be used at development time, consisting of a small core and extensions. It provides extensions intended to format logging based on conversion pattern, display logging information on a device's or emulator's screen, and collect it in a destination file. It adjusts to restrictions of the J2ME architecture, gives possibilities for declarative and programmatical configuration, and is CLDC 1.1 compliant.
ramlog acts as a system daemon that maintains log files in memory instead of hard disk while the system is running. On startup, it creates a ramdisk, copies files from /var/log into the ramdisk, and mounts the ramdisk as /var/log. All logs after that will be updated on the ramdisk. When shutting down or restarting the service, it saves log files back to hard disk. This service drastically reduces the frequency of hard disk usage, which can be useful when the system runs on battery or uses flash memory instead of a hard disk.
DBLog is a logging program for radio amateurs based on a relational database. It allows the user to log QSOs and export a range of them in ADIF format. It can read the radio frequency via CAT interface. It includes a CW Keyer based on cwdaemon. It works with fldigi for digi-modes, and can store QSL pictures with QSO data.
