PyGogear is a tool for using the Philips GoGear MP3 players under Linux. The GoGear Philips xHDD0xx and PSS115/7 series of MP3 players can be mounted with the usb-storage module, but merely copying MP3 files onto it is not enough, since the player needs to read information about the tracks from a Sqlite database file, usually named MyDb. This program reads the necessary tags (either ID3v1 or ID3v2) from the MP3 files placed on the player and inserts them in the database. M3U playlists are supported.
DerMixD is an audio mixing and network-listening daemon that is similar to mixplayd but quite different in its implementation. It supports the playing of music files on a run-time configurable number of input channels, mixing them together and producing output on a run-time configurable number of output channels. It is controlled over a TCP socket and supports scripting, gapless playing of tracks, including filtering of null samples from padding, use of mpg123's equalizer, flexible input/output connection, changing playback speed, and more.
qplay is a console music player frontend (for mpg123, mpg321, ogg123, etc.) that features a user-friendly inferface for managing a play- and queue-list and a module-like system for adding new file formats. It uses familiar vim key bindings. The playlist can be played in sequence or in shuffle mode while an extra queuelist has highest priority so that you can determine which song will be played next before returning back to sequence or shuffle mode. It also features efficient sort and randomization, custom key bindings, external control support, and support for MP3, Ogg, M3U, and FTP streams.
