mp3act is an AJAX-based Web interface to a user's collection of MP3s. It features Jukebox Mode (play on local stereo), Streaming Mode, a searchable database, easy installation, a simple user interface, reading of ID3 tag data, dynamic playlists, random streams, random play by artist, genre, or album, browsing of the collection by artist or genre, album art downloading through Amazon API, AudioScrobbler submission, and detailed play statistics.
mp3album.pl is a tool to automatically create album lists from a batch of mp3 files including ID3v1, ID3v2.2 or ID3v2.3 information. It includes logic to split up all files in one directory into separate albums and generates a report file for each album. The reports are customizable through templates and can contain any information found in the ID3 tags. mp3album.pl lends itself very handy when creating an index of a directory containing several albums of music. As Perl currently lacks 'good' Unicode support, the Unicode strings in ID3v2.3 are not yet supported.
Mp3blaster is an interactive text-based program that plays several audio file types (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, wav, and sid). It is one of the few audio players for the text console that allows full interactive control during playback. One of its key features is the ability to compose a very flexible playlist (while playing!). It plays most MP3 formats and has full mixer support built in.
mp3cleanup is used to tidy up various aspects of MP3 files, including filenames, ID3 tags, path, m3u playlists, and bitrate. This is particularly useful for hardware MP3 players that sometimes have arbitrary limitations on the files they work (well) with. It can operate on single files or on all the files contained in a directory.
Mp3tag is an Objective-Caml library for reading and writing ID3v1 and v2 tags in MP3 files. It includes mp3tag tools, which can be used to modify tags in MP3 files or rename files according to their tags, and a cddbtag tool that modifies tags by using a CDDB server to retrieve information about the track.
