The MPIO Project provides support for using Digitalway/Adtec MPIO digital audio players (DMG, DMK, DME, etc.) under Linux. It provides a Linux kernel module driver, a user space library, and at the moment, one tool to access the MPIO player. Right now, the project is under heavy development and is making rapid progress.
Audio::BunnyMusicFile is a Perl module for working with a music collection in a high-level way. It supports the decoding and encoding of music files, tag editing, and naming based on file properties. GNUdap is a project to build a userspace driver to interface Linux with proprietary-protocol USB MP3 players and mass storage devices. Currently, GNUdap supports only the "Perstel,Inc. CHIC MP10". GNUdap is also an experiment to test the advantages of a strongly-typed programming language and of the functional programming paradigm in hardware development. GNUdap currently supports all features supported by the official program provided with the Chic, and has some additional features, like being able to transfer MP3s directly to the PC.
Mychoonz is an MP3 player implemented in AJAX. It allows you to listen and organize your music within your browser, anywhere, anytime, as long as you've got an Internet connection. The idea is similar to projects such as Ampache or Mp3Act, but it focuses more on user interface rather than features.
Mplinuxman is a file manager program for the MPMan F60 USB portable MP3 player. It can send and receive files using an intuitive graphical user interface (GTK2). It features playlists, ID3 tags on the player, hot-plugging support, and a random list function to fill up the available space on the device.
Podtool is a Python-based utility for managing tracks between a local music repository and an iPod. In particular, it implements correct playcount and ratings synchronisation, which is important when using smart playlists. If you've used iTunes and selective smart playlist synchronisation, then you know what this does.
Pimp3 is an mpg123 frontend that allows one to rate songs according to how much they are liked. Those that are rated higher are played more often. The automanagement feature automatically lowers a song's value if it is skipped, and raises a song's rating if it is selected to play twice in a row.
