uranos is a system that supports unattended installations of Linux and Windows. It supports kickstart, pressed, and autoyast on for Linux, and Windows 2000, XP, 2003, 2003R2, Vista, 7, 8, 2008, and 2012. It features inventory, software management, dhcp-ldap, dns-ldap, php-ssh, syslog-ng, rsyslog, switch management, LDAP browser, PXE manager, central cron management, and license management.
IPTables-tutorial is a tutorial which explains how to install and set up iptables and netfilters on Linux. It takes you through a usable example file step by step, and helps you understand its basic functionality. The tutorial currently contains 6 different example scripts that may be used freely under GPL licensing terms.
The Userspace Logging Daemon (ulogd) is a flexible framework for extensive logging of packets on a firewall machine. ulogd uses the ULOG target of iptables/netfilter, the packet filtering framework of Linux 2.4 and 2.6. It supports binary plugins for adding packet interpreters and output-targets (e.g., for logging into databases, user-defined filetypes, etc.).
python-ldap provides an object-oriented API to access LDAP directory servers from Python programs. Mainly, it wraps the OpenLDAP 2.3+ libs for that purpose. Additionally, the package contains modules for other LDAP-related stuff (such as processing LDIF, LDAPURLs, and LDAPv3 schema).
KVpnc is a KDE frontend for various VPN clients. It supports Cisco VPN (vpnc, vpnclient (a proprietary client from Cisco)), IPSec (FreeS/WAN, Openswan, strongSwan, racoon), PPTP (pptpclient), OpenVPN, L2TP over IPSec (l2tpd, xl2ltpd, openl2tp) (usable with FreeS/WAN, Openswan, strongSwan, and racoon), Vtun, and OpenSSH. Smartcards will be supported within OpenVPN and strongSwan. vpnc is a replacement for the Cisco VPN client, and is used as a client for the Cisco3000 VPN Concentrator. FreeS/WAN, Openswan, and strongSwan are IPSec clients for Linux 2.4.x/2.6.x, and racoon is an IPSec client for Linux 2.6.x and *BSD. l2tpd, xl2tpd, and openl2tp are Linux L2TP VPN clients/servers.
wavemon is a ncurses-based monitor for wireless devices. It allows you to watch the signal and noise levels, packet statistics, device configuration, and network parameters of your wireless network hardware. It has currently only been tested with the Lucent Orinoco series of cards, although it should work (with varying features) with all devices supported by the wireless kernel extensions written by Jean Tourrilhes.
CloudVPN is a secure decentralized mesh networking tool. It allows applications to use it as a mesh transport layer for packet routing, easily creating mesh ethernet VPN, secured audio/video broadcasting or communication channels, etc. It can create secured networks with special or weird topologies, so it's very easy to create connection schemes with clustered/decentralized servers, topologies with better throughput, ring-like topologies for failover, long-line for passing through many routes, or tree topology for optimizing inter-server bandwidth needs.
Atop is an ASCII full-screen performance monitor that is capable of reporting the activity of all processes (even if processes have finished during the interval), daily logging of system and process activity for long-term analysis, highlighting overloaded system resources by using colors, etc. At regular intervals, it shows system-level activity related to the CPU, memory, swap, disks, and network layers, and for every active process it shows the CPU utilization, the memory growth, priority, username, state, and exit code.
webCDwriter can be used to make the CD- and DVD-writer(s) connected to a Linux box available to all users in your network. It consists of the server CDWserver and the clients webCDcreator and rcdrecord. CDWserver stores the files transmitted by the clients, reserves the CD-writer and controls the CD-writer using cdrecord. webCDcreator is a Java applet that runs within your browser or by Java Web Start, assists you when putting together a CD, and transmits the files. Finally rcdrecord is a command line client that tries to offer the functionality of cdrecord over the network with full multi-user support.
LFT (Layer Four Traceroute) is a sort of "traceroute" that often works much faster than the commonly-used Van Jacobson method and goes through many configurations of packet-filter based firewalls. More importantly, LFT implements numerous other features, including TCP, UDP, or ICMP-based traces, AS number lookups through several reliable sources, loose source routing, netblock name lookups, and more. LFT also distinguishes between layer-4 protocols, which make its statistics slightly more realistic, and gives a savvy user the ability to trace protocol routes, not just layer-3 hops.
