Enterprise Object Broker (EOB) is an application server that transparently distributes Java objects via their interfaces. It makes no distinction between Local and Remote objects. Because of these features, it is not J2EE compliant. The developer builds beans that implement normal Java interfaces and the deployer decides where the beans are in a cluster of servers. Apache's AltRMI is used in place of RMI. It publishes plain interfaces locally and remotely. The interfaces do not have to extend the java.rmi.Remote interface. Methods do not have to throw RemoteException. AltRMI delivers remoting for Java. EOB sits on top of Apache's Avalon-Phoenix server platform.
The acronym MICO expands to MICO Is CORBA. The intention of this project is to provide a freely available and fully compliant implementation of the CORBA 2.3 standard. MICO has become quite popular as an OpenSource project and is widely used for different purposes (see our success stories). Our goal is to keep MICO compliant to the latest CORBA standard.
omniEvents is a cross-platform server that enables CORBA applications to communicate through asynchronous broadcast channels (rather than direct method calls). It is a small, efficient implementation of the Object Management Group's Event Service specification designed to work with omniORB.
XParam is an extensible, type-safe, non-intrusive, object-oriented tool for general-purpose object serialization and deserialization in C++, good for parsing command-line parameters and cross-program/cross-platform communication. It can handle named parameters as well as object streams. It recognizes class hierarchies, abstract interfaces, and polymorphism, and can therefore serve as a plug-in management framework (e.g., for strategy management).
PyORBit is a Python binding for the ORBit2 CORBA ORB. It was developped to suit the needs of the bonobo bindings in GNOME-Python, but is usable for other purposes as well. It aims to follow the standard Python language mapping for CORBA. It can generate stubs at runtime from typelibs, IDL files, or by introspecting remote objects using ORBit2's IModule typelib capabilities.
COID is an object-oriented networking library with a tool that automatically generates a lightweight communication layer directly from a C++ class declaration. The coidgen tool automatically extracts designated classes and methods from specified header files and generates a corresponding client class and host dispatcher. The server library manages networked and local connections and provides various services to running objects. The communication layer establishes either remote connection through TCP or direct (vtable) connection between the client and the server (if they reside in the same process).
