SaVi is satellite visualization software that lets you create, run, examine, and modify satellite orbits in two and three dimensions. Simulations of Iridium, Globalstar, Galileo, GPS, and other satellite constellations are included. SaVi requires Tcl and Tk on a system with Unix libraries. SaVi works well with the 3D renderer Geomview. Geomview is optional, though recommended for its 3D rendering capabilities.
San Le's Free Computational Electromagnetics (SLFCEM) is a package of scientific software for use in computational electromagnetics. Command-line driven calculation engines are separate from the GUI components and can be used independently. It includes two of the basic finite elements types, 4 node quad and 3 node triangle. Each element type has a unique GUI specific to the element. Modal analysis for solving the waveguide problem is done using edge based elements. There is also code for generating edge connectivity. The algorithm used is a combination of Lanczos for tridiagonalization of the system, as well as QR to calculate the resulting eigenvalues. In addition to skyline storage and LU decomposition, calculations are also made using the Conjugate Gradient Method.
Slipstream is a multi-body vehicle simulator. Instead of using some sort of specific empirical model of a particular type of vehicle, vehicles are modeled as assemblies of interconnected moving parts. This allows any kind of vehicle to be modeled, and the whole model is completely parametric so that everything can be configured from the mass of the chassis to suspension geometry and engine and transmission characteristics. Slipstream can be executed either in real-time or off-line through control scripts, and every quantity calculated during the simulation can be logged for plotting or further analysis, so it can be used as a game or as a tool to study vehicle dynamics.
TheCurves is an application that plots a parameterized family of curves based on algebraic formulas specified by the user. It is meant as an educational tool for mathematics, physics, and engineering. When the program is run as an applet in a Web page, the plot parameters and formulas are configurable by HTML and dynamically scriptable, so that the applet can be initialized to present a specific plot when the page is opened or to change plots when the user clicks on a control in the Web page.
V_Sim visualizes atomic structures such as crystals, grain boundaries, molecules, and so on It can work with files either in binary format or in plain text format. The rendering is done in pseudo-3D with colored spheres to represent the atoms. The user can interact through many functions to choose the view, the size of the atoms, their color, the background color, the type of fog, and more. Moreover, V_Sim allows you to export the view as images in GIF, PS, and other formats.
View3D is a program to calculate radiation view factors, as used in radiant heat transfer problems in mechanical engineering, building design, furnace design, etc. Data input is via text file. There are 3D and 2D viewers for checking your input. View factors are output to another file for use with other calculation tools. View factors are also sometimes called "shape factors", "configuration factors", and "form factors".
