The debug memory allocation or dmalloc library is a drop-in replacement for the system's native memory management routines. It provides powerful debugging facilities which are configurable at runtime. These facilities include such things as memory-leak tracking, fence-post write detection, file/line number reporting, and general logging of statistics. The library has been run successfully on a wide variety of operating systems. It also provides support for the debugging of threaded programs.
AudioScope is a text mode audio oscilloscope that captures sounds using DEMO, SOX, or DSP (/dev/dsp}. It is primarily a learning tool for kids. The script includes code and circuit diagrams for calibrating the horizontal and vertical axes. It features a demo mode with no dependences that samples /dev/urandom.
This is a comprehensive "word game" word list for UNIX/Linux. It is a superset of the author's ENABLE list, the "OSW", and various lists researched by the author's colleague, Alan Beale. At 264,093 words, it is the largest list of its kind, suitable for use in all manners of crossword-type board games and word construction games, as well as for a spell checker dictionary. The YAWL package now includes two anagramming utilities (supplied as source code, handled by the included Makefile). There is also a shell script that extends the UNIX "strings" system command. This is the word list package recommended for the author's Quackey word game.
netscript is a portable/multi-platform, lightweight TCP/UDP socket scripting system. It is intended to automate situations, built on a word-to-word ruleset response system. It includes wildcard support, character replacement, random replacement, argument inclusion, server timeout, initial send, display altering, multiple character dump formats, telnet protocol support, logging, program to socket dumping, executable ruleset support, reverse binding, module support, data truncation, data formatting, permission options, virtual hosting support, history storage, dynamic storage variables, directory placement, character omitting, timed rules, background support, syslog support, routing support, socket options, interactive mode, and graphical user interface support.
The ANSI/ISO C++ specifcation includes a standard C++ library, also known as the STL. GCC by default comes with an implementation that does not comply with this standard, but instead partly implements an older version. STLport is a freely available implementation, based on the SGI STL implementation. It is fully-compliant, supported, and very fast. It includes special debugging facilities and interesting and useful extensions to the standard.
SMCRoute is a daemon and command line tool to manipulate the multicast routes of the Linux kernel. It can be used as an alternative to dynamic multicast routers like 'mrouted' in situations where (only) static multicast routes should be maintained and/or no proper IGMP signaling exists.
