The PLEAC project aims to re-implement the solutions presented in the Perl Cookbook (by Tom Christiansen & Nathan Torkington, published by O'Reilly) in other programming languages. If successful, this project may become a primary resource for quick, handy, free solutions to most common programming problems using higher-level programming languages. It could also be useful for comparison on ease-of-use and power/efficiency of these languages.
utf8proc is a library for processing UTF-8 encoded Unicode strings. Some features are Unicode normalization, stripping of default ignorable characters, case folding, and detection of grapheme cluster boundaries. The library can be used in C programs, but most of the functionality is also available as a ruby library. For PostgreSQL, there is an extension providing a function for preparing strings in case insensitive indices. The currently supported Unicode version is 5.0.0.
BitNami Cloud Tools packages together Amazon Web Services tools with preconfigured Java and Ruby language runtimes to work out of the box. It is a self-contained, easy to use distribution with one goal in mind: to make it simple to get started using AWS services from the command line.
Booh is a static Web-album generator. It takes one or several series of photos and videos, and automatically builds static Web pages to browse them, creating thumbnails, etc. It features automatic rotation of portrait images, support for videos, preloading, sub-albums support, themability, a powerful GUI for editing, and more. A companion program, booh-classifier, is a tool for batch deleting/copying/moving around images/videos, and is meant to be used prior to creating a Web-album (or in isolation).
NorfelloCMMS OS is a powerful CMMS application. It enables organizations to easily manage labor, equipment, and service requests via a Web-based interface. This leads to increased efficiency of labor usage and reduced time spent on maintenance tasks. It is targeted at any organization that handles maintenance tasks or has equipment to track. From maintenance management of heavy industry to management of computer network equipment, it can be customized to meet the requirements of various different domains.
Redmine is a flexible project management and issue tracking Web application. It supports multiple projects, flexible role based access control, Gantt charts and calendars, news, document, and file management, feeds and email notifications, per-project wikis and forums, time tracking, custom fields for issues, time entries, projects, and users, SCM integration (SVN, CVS, Git, Mercurial, Bazaar, and Darcs), issue creation via email, multiple LDAP authentication support, user self-registration support, multi-language support, and multiple database support.
Mooix is a multiuser object-oriented dimension (a MOO) layered over top of your favorite Unix system. To the user, mooix looks much like any other MOO. To the programmer, mooix objects look like directories full of files: executable methods, properties, and links to other objects. MOOs have historically had poor support for such things as real programming languages, encrypted logins, multitasking, and editors. Mooix inherits all of these things from the Unix system it is based on. At the same time, it's not wedded too tightly to Unix (e.g., it implements its own permissions system that is much more suited to a MOO environment than the historical Unix system).
Guis widget server is a Gtk2 widget server. It listens on pipes for widget requests (in the Python or Ruby (or Slang, etc.) scripting languages), and emit replies or events in textual lines (e.g. Lispy, XML or plain token syntax). It is useful for programs (in particular setuid programs) and scripts that don't or can't link the Gtk2 libraries and need to delegate the user interface to another process.
