Resara Server is an Active Directory compatible open source server for small businesses designed around Samba 4. It is designed to be simple and easy to use. Setup only takes a few minutes. The management console lets you manage users, share files, work with storage, and configure DHCP and DNS.
Gfarm is a distributed filesystem, generally used for large scale cluster computing. It's implemented in userland, and can be mounted by FUSE. It utilizes locality of a file to access a data node, and supports Globus GSI for Wide Area Network. Users can explicitly control file replica location on Gfarm. Gfarm can be used as an alternative storage system to HDFS for Hadoop, Samba, MPI-IO, and GridFTP. Monitoring via ZABBIX and Ganglia is also supported.
Pdbsql provides three samba passdb backend modules: pdb_mysql, pdb_pgsql, and pdb_multi. pdb_mysql is a MySQL passdb backend. pdb_pgsql is a PostgreSQL passdb backend. pdb_multi is a backend which loads multiple passdb backends. These are provided because support for MySQL and PostGreSQL passdb backends has been removed from the Samba source tree, due to lack of an active maintainer.
adv-samba is a PHP class to batch audit SAMBA resources on remote hosts or large LANs. It's a very handy tool during network audits. For example, imagine a LAN with 500 workstations. You want to find any illegal MP3s on company machines. With this tool, you recursively dump the share directory structure. It works with Active Directory authentication too.
