UPMS (Universal Package Managment System) is based on the BSD ports system, and can be used on any FHS 2.0 Linux-compatible distribution. UPMS has two level of dependencies checking: required and suggested. It also has an option to optimize everything that you build and install with it for your architecture.
The goal for A-A-P is to make it easy to locate, download, and install software. Additionally, it supports making changes to a program and managing different versions that exist in the world, making it useful both for users and for developers. It uses a recipe that is similar to a Makefile, but with many enhancements, such as integrated Python script support, support for Internet access, and version control. An IDE will be provided that integrates your favorite editor, debugger, and other tools.
The Hunting of the Snark Project contains a client for downloading and sharing files distributed with the BitTorrent protocol. It is mainly used for exploring the BitTorrent protocol and experimenting with the GNU Compiler for Java (gcj), but it can also be used as a regular BitTorrent client. Snark can also act as a torrent creator, a tiny HTTP server for delivering metainfo.torrent files, and has an integrated tracker for making the sharing of files as easy as possible. When you use the --share option, Snark will automatically create a .torrent file and start a very simple Web server to distribute the metainfo.torrent file and a local tracker that other BitTorrent clients can connect to.
Tepatche is a patch management system for OpenBSD. It will periodically check a specified FTP site, and if there is a new patch to be applied, downloads, applies, builds and installs it. Tepatche mantains a small status database to know in what is the status of each of the system's patches.
The Solarpack project is a repository of 1400+ pre-compiled packages of free software for Solaris systems and a distribution of the NetBSD package collection tools (NPCT) for Solaris. The goal is to make Free & Open Source Software on Solaris just as easily available as it could be on BSD or Linux distributions.
prtpacker (Portable Resource Tree Packer, pronounced PIRT-Packer) is a tool for creating C or C++ source code from external program resources such as images, text, or data. These resources can be arranged in a tree structure much like a typical file system. After compiling and linking the resulting source code you can access the resource tree from within your software through a simple API. Be aware that all resources stay in memory and cannot be easily deallocated.
