epkg is a package manager which uses the Encap Package Management System, a method for flexibly handling installation and management of third-party software on a Unix system. Encap places each package in its own subdirectory, then automatically manages symlinks to their appropriate places in /usr/local. The Encap package format includes features like postinstall scripts and prerequisite checking. Other features include builtin tar/gzip extraction, optional builtin FTP and HTTP support, transaction logging, and the ability to automatically upgrade a package to the latest version.
Pexpect is a Python Expect-like module. It spawns child applications, controls them, and responds to expected patterns in their output. It can be used for automating interactive applications such as ssh, ftp, passwd, telnet, etc. It can be used to automate setup scripts for duplicating software package installations on different servers. It can be used for automated software testing. It should work on any platform that supports the standard Python pty module. Its interface was designed to be easy-to-use, so performing simple tasks is easy. It includes an ANSI/VT100 terminal screen scraping module.

It downloads, compiles, and installs the software into the directory of your choice. Aphid places emphasis on providing an intuitive, browser-based interface and keeping a tiny distribution footprint. To date Aphid has been tested on Rehat Linux 6 and 6.2, FreeBSD 4.0, and Solaris 2.6 and 7.

pkt is a universal XML packet archiver. It can manipulate files for backing up documents, transferring them across networks, emailing them, and sharing them by other means (p2p etc). It uses plugin filters to do the job and handles virtually any format available if there is a plugin for it. It handles encryption, compression, conversion, parity checking, decryption, decoding, repairing, rebuilding, and other tasks using a universal file format (XML-based). By default, all pkt output is in 7-bit ASCII which is UTF encoded and is compatible with XML parsers. pkt files can be disassembled, reassembled, and repaired by hand if necessary. pkt also supports the use of 8-bit compressed XML packets for its archives using one of several compression algorithms. In general, pkt will try to use the best algorithms available.
WISP-Dist is a modular embedded Linux distribution for wireless routers, but can be used for other purposes as well. The entire system fits in 8 MB flash/16 MB RAM. Highlights include an easy-to-use menu interface, commandline access, an Access Point mode (on selected cards), OSPF/RIPv2, bandwidth shaping, NAT, Layer 3 (proxy arp) bridging, and other goodies. The goal is to create an open, customizable, and easy-to-use solution for wireless routers.
