Synth is a C++ template framework - a set of components that can be mixed and matched to build the right functionality; furthermore, components are loosely-coupled, designed to be both extensible and replaceable. Synth blurs the line between compile-time and runtime, and it does so by blending the static C++ type system, the dynamic values that need to be manipulated and formatted, including those from other languages, and the templates to do so. The name is an allusion to this synthesis process, which combines values to generate new ones (streams, files, strings, numbers, etc.)

Tactor is a tool that tries to guess the best action for the current text selection. For example, text containing http://xyz.com is recognized as an URL link, and ~/Documents/MyPresentation.key as a presentation file. Both matchers and actions are fully customizable. It is loosely based on Plan9’s Plumber where any text can potentially be an action, although the actual technical implementation is very different. It provides functionality somewhat similar to that of Apple Data Detectors in a way that is fully extensible and transparent.

Previously, fiction books published on the Web were often divided into lines of ~80 characters for comfortable reading. This can be a problem on small displays (such as phones), causing poorly-wrapped formatting. Reformator is a simple Qt utility that attempts to remove newlines inside paragraphs without removing those between paragraphs. Just set the size of the first line indent, and Reformator will recognize real paragraphs and remove all non-useful newlines. It can also detect indent size automatically. It is recommended to back up your books before reformatting.
