You will want to check out http://www.auroralinux.org. It is a port of RedHat 7.3 by Spot to the Sparc/Sparc64 platform.
Build 0.3 of Aurora is out now with full KDE 3.0, Kernel 2.4.18 (if on a Sparc64) and so forth.. Anaconda hasn't been fully ported as it claims on the website, but you can still create your own boot cdrom with packages and manually install it.
I am also working on a LinuxFromScratch derived Linux Distro for Sparc64 (It willl run on a Sparc but I don't have one to test kernels on). Some time in the next few weeks I expect to release a bootable manual install cdrom for both ix86 and Sparc64.
http://www.fdragon.org if you want to follow the joys and pains of the thing.
