using information repositories as a tool to open users to free software
I do believe that this site has been one of the greatest resources for developers of free software.
However, I do feel that this may not be the best time to try and attempt to pull the windows world into the free software world.
Unfortunately, the windows world has great deal more of individuals that will pick software merely because it is at no cost, not because it is free.
I feel that we would have more of an edge if you were to choose to wait an additional 24 months, as the open window mangers (and other gui software) has more of a chance to mature, thereby offering more of an opportunity for proprietary users to "get" the philosophy.
That said, the very beginnings of a shift in fundamental thinking in the commercial os world *is* starting, primarily in the GUI sector.
Perhaps the best method to approach things for the time being is add a "ported to proprietary systems" flag?
Regardless, scoop and fm family, I have trust in you that you will make the best long term decision.
